I think you have your lists mixed up. We were discussing genetics and that all
living beings carry recessives and that breeders have to weight the pros and
the cons. Somewhere in the conversation I made the general statement if every
dog that produced a problem was removed from the genepool eventually there
would be no dogs. I have never had or known a dog with cataracts nor did I
suggest in any way, shape, or form that an animal afflicted with cataracts be
should be bred.

Hereditary juvenile cataracts are a very serious problem...Rare, but
blinding!!!!Not a nice thing to sell to the unsuspecting pet buyer...Regardless
of the quality of the litter you would e doing a rear disservice to the breed
to repeat this breeding or the breeding of either parent. This problem needs to
be stopped...Even the brothers and sisters of these parent dogs may be carriers
and should not be bred, nor the parents of the carrier parents of an affected
dog..
This is being of a service to the breed..something so often over looked in
our quest for glory...via an unsuspecting pooch.
So to me this is a real problem with dire consequences...
