To me the Review problems have been the 'elephant in the room' for
several
years. I say that because many of us willingly complain about the
tardiness of receipt, the length of time between ad submission and
publication, etc., but refuse to say what really is wrong. Some of us
have long been saying that the Review in its current state and
management became obsolete years ago. To me it is outrageous that we as
an organization would refuse to address the real problems. I work for a
Fortune 500 company and I can tell you that no employee, at any level
would still be employed if they performed in the manner that the Review
team performs. I felt that when we looked at the issues in the
transition from the Lois Fryslin team to the current team we were
'incorrect' in assigning what the problems were. It was never format,
style, etc. The current situation just proves that. A magazine which
requires that length of lead time and then is 2-3 months late in
arriving is
worthless and cannot compete with currency such as the internet and
other magazines which offer timely publication and delivery.
