With a heavy heart my personal friend and a friend to all of us that love and cherish our dogs, George Padgett, has passed on. He was a professor emeritus of pathology/veterinary medicine at MSU; he was still actively working for the betterment of dogs. Most notably and currently he has been working for Leader Dog for the Blind, Rochester, MI and for the White German Shepherd Dog Club. He is known for his dedication to purebred dogs and dogs in general; seeking to improve their health and longevity. He authored the book: "Control of Canine Genetic Diseases " and several other research papers and was active speaker for improving the breeding of purebred dogs. George was Best Man at our wedding. He and my husband, Dr. Mostosky, were currently working on a research paper on OCD of the shoulder in GSP. No funeral is planned at this time and a memorial service will be held after the holidays. George dedicated his entire adult life to dogs and MSU and has donated his body back to MSU---I can picture him smoking his pipe and laughing at the irony of this. Gods peace George, may there be lots of wonderful cats in your heaven. We will miss you greatly.
