How long are you going to sit there and wait? Has he called yet?
I may be in a similar situation. I sent the Govanah, Arnold Schwarzenegger,
a letter on Monday, certified, and got a receipt in the mail today. The
signature cannot be deciphered, surely he won't bother with such trivial
things, probably an Assistant to the Assistant to the Assistant of his Aide.
My letter was about our concern regarding SB 1634 (?) and was written in his
native language. My reason for this was to possibly get his attention more
so than in English. I will not be waiting by the phone, probably not at all.
He may discard it, but at least I gave it a try.

I downloaded and read the article by Carmen. A Gathering Storm. It  is very 
interesting and reminded me of a book I read in the early 60s called  A
Nation 
of Sheep by Francis Ledderer.  Or, at least I think that  was the name of
the 
book.
 
The idea of the book was that we tend to believe whatever we read, and if
it 
is in print, we tend to think it must be true.
 
The article of Carmen's reminded me of that. His premise is that the Animal

Rights people have forced us to examine our breeding programs, labeling
those  
who do not as puppy mills, and other titles to give them a negative sounding

title. Then he claims that selling pups on a non-breeding contract, or 
without  papers to discourage breeding, is causing the gene pool to be
destroyed, 
and  reducing registrations. He says this as though it is a bad thing, and 
harmful to  the breeds. He would also say that Puppy Mills may not be a bad
thing, 
but then  does not go on to justify that position.
 
What the article fails to point out is that the tactic of the article is
the 
same tactic used by the Animal Rights people, in that he would have us  
assume that limiting the breeding and eliminating from the gene pool animals
is  
bad. He never suggests that doing so might just be a good thing for the
future  
of a breed. We are not doing harm to a breed to eliminate a gene that causes

harmful elements of a breed, we are encouraging a better offspring.  It may

indeed limit registrations, (a problem for the survival of the AKC).
 
It is interesting to read the article, but be careful of believing  
everything you read.  It makes you a sheep, and we know what our breed does
with sheep.
 
 
I called my legislator, Mr. Calderon today about the California bill. After

talking to an associate, and after giving my extensive resume, they 
transferred  me to Mr. Calederon's PERSONAL ASSISTANT, who gave me an equal
amount of 
time,  and listened attentively.  Then I was told my representative had not
made 
 up his mind about the bill and asked permission to have him call me. I gave

it.
 
I will be sitting right next to my phone for the rest of the day, waiting  
for that return call.
 
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
