Thank you for this more detailed information. Vague optimism makes me uneasy.
I am sure that both our leadership and the City of Beaumont are doing
everything they can to insure a successful experience for us. I want to know
what is really going on before I book a nonrefundable airline reservation 30
days in advance. Please keep us in the loop with frequent, specific
updates. Thanks again for this post. I know we are all busy with a thousand
other things as well, not to mention the folks on site who are dealing with
personal aftermath of the storm for themselves and their dogs. I wish you all
well and hope to see you in Beaumont.

There is no roof remaining on the Ford Park Arena. There was to be a
structural inspection today (Friday) a meeting and perhaps a projected date
for repair. The other arena which we would use there has large water leaks
from wind damage. The center did not flood and there is not a valid concern
about bacteria contamination. Nanci and Lea are working non-stop on finding
an alternate show site in Texas. We do not want people to be alarmed and we
know that tickets have been purchased, cars rented, hotels and vacations
booked. We are looking for availabilty of hotels as well as a showsite. I
I asked Molly about this and this is what she said:
There are a few pieces of steel roofing that peeled, but 1800 1st line
workers (electrical, tree trimmers and the national guard) are sleeping in the
exhibition hall. Cannot imagine them being there with no roof
They are there for 4 weeks when they expect all services to be returned to
normal and all residents back in their homes.
As Gail said, this is a wait and see operation right now. Nanci is
obviously working on the problem in case we are not able to use Beaumont.
However,
being my usual optimistic self, I think we will be at Beaumont.
