This is true, BUT, sometimes a handler trips and falls, or the dog decides "Hey! I'm off lead! And awayyyyy I go!" And they really pull out and leave the handler in the dust while they still maintain a good gait. The judge usually doesn't care, unless the dog that's gaiting goes after other dogs.
