This was hashed out and explained months ago...so, not sure what the point is.
Not sure why there is the thought that there is a conflict here. The
alternative is to have Schutzhund USA sitting on the WUSV representing the GSDs
in this country...talk about conflicting!

Hi- I have been asking the same questions at the Board meetings but it was
best explained by Fred Migliore-the WDA represents the GSDCA in
International competition and therefore the GSDCA is recognized as the
official keeper of the US German Shepherd standard . There are other groups
of working dogs- with other breeds in addition to German shepherds -those
organizations could be recognized instead of the GSDCA if the WDA did not
represent the GSDCA- therefore we gain by WDA involvement.
Originally the WDA was to be part of the GSDCA but due to the AKC concerns
they were created as a separate entity. The GSDCA has committed funds
annually to enable the WDA team to travel to Europe to represent the GSDCA
and to pay international dues. Some but not all WDA members belong to the
GSDCA. The WDA does not share any of it's membership fees with the GSDCA.
Other GSDCA funds are paid to the WDA for competition, travel and
hospitality to International Officials. Several members of the GSDCA Board
are also members of the WDA Board. There is no ongoing obligation to support
the WDA and they do have their own funds. The relationship is complex to say
the least.
