The question would then be, does the broken policy carry the same disciplinary
action as a broken rule. If they do they are the same. If they do not they are
not.
Does that make any sense?

In the Rules, Policies, and Guidelines for Conformation Judges book,
it is stated as a policy, not a rule, that a judge advise an exhibitor with
whom he co-owns dogs not to enter under him. I have found that AKC
considers a policy about as strong as a rule. LOL

Hi Tish
The question of showing under a judge that you co-own with is YES you can....I
have checked with AKC directly and
talked with our local AKC Rep several times. That said they consider it a
touchy area so showing under your very best
friend (and everyone knows it) is probably not such a good idea. Use good
judgement

Welcome to German Shepherd Dog Club of America
(GSDCA)
Dear Jennifer,
2011 NATIONAL SPECIALTY - the National Specialty
will be held in Topeka, Kansas (airport to fly in to is Kansas City) the week
of September 26, 2011. The Herding Trial will be held Saturday and Sunday,
September 24 & 25 and Instinct Tests will be Tuesday and Wednesday, September
27 & 28, 2011. The site will be great. We can walk out the hotel door and into
the arena for the show. There appears to be lots of grassy area outside.
The July Board meeting, July 24-25, will be held
in Kansas City and include a site visit to the Expo Center in Topeka.
Don't forget - The RESCUE COMMITTEE needs photos
for their calendar. Contact Joanna Rand @aol.com if you have some to
contribute.
The TRACKING SEMINAR at the National with Judge
Vincent T. Ramirez will take place Oct. 11-12, 2010 after the tracking tests.
Working teams are limited to 20 at $175.00, Unlimited auditors at $100 and a
limited number of private ½ lessons on Wednesday, October 13 @ $25.00.
OUR K9 HEROES and a Meet the Breeds is Saturday,
June 5, at Veterans Field on Chews Landing Road in Gloucester Twp, NJ. The
ceremony is at 5 PM to honor service dogs.
HERDING - Theresa Royer, Herding Chair, states
that all this year's Herding Events will be on-site at Legacy Center. There
will be A-Course on Saturday and Sunday, October 9 & 10, followed by GSDCA
Instinct Testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. C-Course will not be offered due to
the lack of an appropriate area. We are in the process of negotiating a
practice day on Friday, prior to our events. We are also in need of a Herding
Event Secretary for Saturday and Sunday. If you are interested or know anyone
who may be interested, please forward along their contact information to me at

FUTURITIES: Anyone with ideas to strengthen or
improve the Futurity Program please E-mail them to Kathy Potter at

the remaining futurities. National Futurity Chair Carol Moore is appreciative
of parent club member feedback.
Litter Nominations: The online nomination seems
to be working but, for now, people using it should contact Diane
Silver-Strasser by email to verify that she has received their nomination. Her
email is kmgraphic2@xxxxxxxx If anyone has nominated a letter and included all
appropriate fees and a pedigree and NOT received an acknowledgement, he/she
definitely needs to contact Diane.

"Senator Durbin, (D, IL)has introduced Senate Bill, S3424, , now known as PUPS,
and I encourage ALL GSDCA members to read the bill in its entirety, to read the
AKC alert, and to read the APHIS Animal Care Standards, And the USDA Animal
Facts Sheet. All of these documents should be up on the GSDCA Legislative
webpage early next week. The bill, if passed, will affect almost every GSDCA
member, whether breeding litters, co-owning litters, or buying with a
co-owner."

The Judging Operations Department receives many
of the same questions all the time. Here are the some of the most commonly
asked questions...
~Can I exhibit a dog under the judge with whom I
co-own the dog? NO!
~Can I exhibit a dog co-owned with a judge at a
show at which the judge is officiating but not judging that particular breed?
NO!
~Can I have my son/daughter exhibit in Junior
Showmanship a dog co-owned with a judge at a show at which the judge is
officiating but not judging Juniors? YES!
~If the judge with whom I co-own a dog is judging
the Regular Classes on Saturday, can I exhibit the dog at a companion show on
either Friday or Sunday? NO!
~Can I enter a dog co-owned with a judge under
the judge if I plan to transfer the dog out of the judge's name if the judging
schedule indicates the entry will be a major? NO!
~Should I exhibit a dog not co-owned by a judge
under the same judge with whom I co-own dogs? NO!
~Should I enter a dog not co-owned by the judge
but with whom I co-own other dogs, having someone else show the dog so the
judge won't know I own it? NO!
~Can I enter a dog co-owned with a judge at a
Specialty show at which the Judge is officiating the Regular Classes and opt to
show the dog only in the Sweepstakes Class and not in the Regular Classes?
NO!
