There is no HB 2310 filed this Texas Legislative Session so please ignore
an
anonymous email that has gone viral with instructions to contact members
of
the Conference Committee regarding this bill. THE MISINFORMATION ALL
REFERS
TO OUR LAST TEXAS LEGISLATIVE SESSION IN 2009!
Please do NOT contact the Conference Committee members listed as they'll
be
very irritated! The Texas Legislature hasn't even appointed House
Committees yet but should be doing so later this week. The Senate
Committees have been appointed but NO committee hearings can be held yet
unless the bills are declared an "emergency" by Governor Perry. So there
are no animal bills even assigned to committees - which don't even exist
yet. Please don't jump the gun!
And folks, it was our late dearly beloved Rep. Edmund Kuempel who killed
this attempt by Senator Whitmire in 2009 to attach the Senate HSUS/Texas
Humane Legislative Network misnamed "Puppymill" Bill to Kuempel's HB 2310
in
the Conference Committee. RPOA nominated Rep. Kuempel for the first ever
"AKC Legislator of the Year 2009" Award which led to his being chosen. His
son, Rep. John Kuempel, has been elected to fill his vacant seat in the
legislature.
