Iraq vet finds peace transporting dogs to new homes
Veteran haunted by the Iraq war is recovering by driving animals to
Canada for adoption.

The Iraq war veteran found an elusive calm on a road trip from San
Antonio to the Canadian border, transporting dogs to be adopted by
rescue groups and families. On Nov. 8, he drove seven huskies, once
scheduled to be euthanized, 27 hours to Canada, with his miniature
pinschers, Dallas and Sable, along for company.
Sleep wasn't an issue. Kacey Schlundt had spent many nights awake,
haunted by the loss of buddies in the war.......
