Yes, putting these things together in a way that is accurate and coherent is
a very big job.  The original reason for the Board O Gram was to get some
news of what had happened at Board meetings out to the membership in a time
frame that was relatively current, specifically because the process of
creating, reviewing, correcting and finalizing the "official Minutes" is
necessarily slow, complex and laborious.  The idea of the Board O Gram was
originally intended as a help to inform the membership, and when not used
for games and self-promotion, it does have a useful function, even if
limited and ad hoc.  At the time the idea was first adopted, there was no
other way but now we have new technology, so new opportunities.

The work I had done to provide IMMEDIATE and COMPLETE information to the
membership would have greatly improved on this process, by putting th entire
sound file of the entire Board meeting on the web site where all members
could hear it all the same day or the next day.  Even people without
computers could hear it - all or any part that was of interest, either by
going to the library or to a friend's house, or Regional Clubs could play
them at their meetings, etc.  The work was done and would be ready to roll
out now, had Lew not killed it.  

I used the digital equipment I bought in 2005, and experimented with various
options at my own expense and on my own time to figure this out, then worked
with John Ayotte to be ready to upload the April meeting for the Board to
hear as an experiment, so all could try it and understand it, prior to
proposing to roll it out to the membership.  Too bad - it would have been a
great way to include and inform the GSDCA membership, providing almost
real-time, viritual attendance at Board meetings.  It would have completely
eliminated all questions, rumors and speculation as to what did or did not
get covered at the meeting.

I have to disagree with you here.  Getting the BOG within 2 weeks of  the
meeting is outstanding.  We are ALL volunteers and all have other  things we
have to do.  I understand from Tom that, in addition to his  job, he had a
problem with his well to be dealt with at the same time he  was doing the
BOG (nobody likes being without water).  The internet has  made us all want
instant gratification.  Unfortunately, that is not  necessarily a good
quality.
