Every year over 50,000 unwanted cats and dogs are born in Los Angeles, and over 15,000 were euthanized last year. This ordinance will reduce the number of unwanted animals, increase public safety (as the vast majority of dog attacks are done by intact male dogs) and decrease the cost to taxpayers. In addition, to celebrate National Spay Day, the City of Los Angeles, PETCO and the Amanda Foundation are sponsoring a FREE spay/neuter, micro-chipping and vaccinations on City Hall's South Lawn. # # # -------------------------------------------------------------------- Becca Doten Director of Communications Office of Councilmember Richard Alarcón City Hall, Room 425 200 N.
