I was the one with 27 puppies. It was from 3 or 4 litters that year. I co
owned a couple of them with Syd Mailberg . The food was a mix of raw
meat, kelp, alfalfa and vitamins. It came frozen. Dr Kruger thought they had
parvo but the tests came up neg. He could not figure it out. This went on for
a year until my horse vet took over and sent everything into I think it
was the university in Pullman. Their test cam back salmonella and ecoli. Then
we sent the food samples and they said the was the cause. It was loaded
with the salmonella and ecoli. So now I stick to dry food. The adults were not
effected only the pups.
Oh, and I do have kennel help. It started with my kids, then
neighbor kids, then who ever wanted to work. Teaches them they need to work to
make money. Now after 40 years of doing this I have a young man who comes in
to help me.He is unable to work so this helps with his income. Loves the
dogs and all my other animals. If you pay someone a decent wage they don't
mind doing the work.
My son said he learned that when he became an adult he wanted a good
job, live in an apartment and have a plastic dog. Now he has an awesome
job, lives in a house (1 son and 3 step kids all in college) and has two big
dogs and three cats. And 3 turkeys and 9 chickens. My daughter works for
Paul Allen and the Seahawks, She has three dogs and a cat. I guess it just
runs in the family. Brenda Piele
