code, I felt my individual contract was better than signing a code with very

whatever they want, then there are those like myself whose puppies go out on

binding simple contract who haven't signed it. In an age of litigation
contracts are now needed, to protect the breeder and the purchaser. In the

days a hand shake and your word between two people was enough.
Maybe I am a little naive but I still believe in my word, and a hand shake
with the people I come in contact with, it boils down to just this" you are
either honest or your not." Signing a breeders code doesn't make everyone
ethical.

The trouble with a Breeders Code is that only the good guys will sign
it. The breeders that really create our problems will probably not even
be aware that such a thing exists. Doris E

Unfortunately, I believe this is true, too. But that is not to say that we
shouldn't try damn hard to make our new code more stringent.
