My husband and I drag race all summer long. A drum of race gas which lasts
about 3 weeks is $800.00Cdn. The motorhome was $40000, the car trailer was
$15000, we have about $35000 in the car. No racing isn't cheaper but while
I would love the feeling that showing my dog will give me, I don't think
that it will compete with staging and launching a car and having the front
tires come 2 feet off the ground and beating the faster car to the finish
line. That's INSTANT gratification whereas with the dog, I'm on a slow
learning curve. We're planning on selling the race car after the next
season and perhaps then we can concentrate on shows (if I can get my husband
as addicted to the dogs as I am) and trialling.

I can't put my finger on why people will spend the money on other hobbies,

What I hear others say and my own feeling is that a lot of the fun has gone
out of showing dogs So who wants to spend a lot of money on a hobby that is
not fun.
