sounds like she is not being bred at the right time and the implant and
testing cost sounds pretty normal too. Vets learn billing 1-0-1 pretty
early in their training, but a good vet is worth it.did you do a vaginal
culture and a brucilious (sp.) test?

Yes, my thoughts are that she wasn't ready to be bred when you had to hold
her down on the floor to AI her. First, I'd have a thorough exam done and
make sure she doesn't have any obstructions that could make all of this
painful. And....I think you'll be surprised if you do progesterone. You
could find
out she ovulates early (say day 3) and was well and truly finished with
having her season when you all tried to get her bred. (If you find this
out,
there may be no need for an implant. I'm thinking if you get the timing
right,
she'll stand without a fuss.) I'm with Sally though. If your timing was
right and she's just a wing-ding, (to me) it's not worth the trouble.
In closing, $1,000 may not be the usual amount one wants to spend on
testing, implants, etc, and it's nice if they do it the old fashioned way,
but IMO
that's a small price for a litter from a bitch that's worth breeding in the
first place.
