The G.S.D.C. of Canada and the British Columbia German Shepherd Dog Club's Education Committees are so grateful to those of you who are helping to make our Canadian National Education Seminar an event to look forward to! We sincerely appreciate all your words of encouragement and advice! Special thanks to Helen Gleason and Bob Stevenson for the your ideas and unwavering support. While gratitude is "in the air", may I take a moment to publically thank Kay Reamensnyder and Joan Fox for your huge gift of time and energy? Your generosity of time and effort is undoubtedly going to be key to the eventual success of this Educational Extravaganza! If you take a moment to read the updates below, I think you'll understand why September 9th and 10th in Vancouver, BC are shaping up to be the place to be for ALL THE ACTION. We have Karen Hynek for our pre-National Regional specialty on Thursday, September 8th! Our regional club is offering $1500.00 in cash prizes (along with a sneak peak at many of the National contenders). That same evening will feature Charlotte LaRosa and Fred Migliore working through our Futurity/Maturity Class Finals!! If so, check out our website at http://www.bcgsdc.ca and click on the Nationals Icon. We have our Advance Brochure, premium lists and several contacts who are more than happy to engage in a conversation that might just make you decide to attend! The German Shepherd Dog is like no other - Versatile - Noble - undeniable in motion! Why not come help us celebrate the wonders of our breed, the gift of Education and Mentoring, and of course good old-fashioned FRIENDSHIP! Jack ********************************* Updates!!! ****Please Note**** We have now confirmed Breeder-Judge JOAN FOX of Campaigner German Shepherd Dogs (Ohio), as our lead Presenter and Judge for "Take Them Around." Joan is well-known for her 2 time U.S. Grand Victor "Uzi", and more than 100 other Champions she has bred and finished in the States. At the Victory Dinner following her first time judging the U.S. Nationals, Joan spoke passionately about the German Shepherd Dog in our Lives, our Homes, Kennels and in the Ring!! Her emotional rally led to an involuntary standing ovation and deafening roar from the attendees. Joan knows our breed inside and out. Not only will she examine, place and critique our Seminar Dogs....but she will share her contagious LOVE and DEDICATION to our NOBLE German Shepherd Dog. She will also be on of our Mentors for both days of the National! You can visit her website at: http://www.campaignersgsds.com/ . Breeder Judge Kay Reamensnyder, of Bedkar German Shepherd Dogs (Washington State) is our lead mentor for "Mentors, Mentors and More Mentors." Kay's long list of champions include several All-Breed Best in Show Winners and Best in Specialty Winners. Kay is AKC-Licensed to judge the entire Herding Group as well as many Working and Sporting Breeds. Kay is already hard at work on this seminar and she just emailed me to say she has been in contact with 22 Breeders, Breeder-Judges and Handlers who will likely be attending this 2-day National. She also has several more on her "to-contact" list!!! Ten (10) have already committed much of their availability to us, and if I know Kay (I do) she's not going to stop until we confirm at least 20 mentors. She's planning to have them come in and out of your Priority Seating Area as their schedules permit, and Kay will ensure they circulate through the seating area so you can discuss German Shepherd Dogs with as many different people as possible. You can visit her website at: http://www.bedkargsd.com/index.html Joan and Kay are both "cc'd" on this email. If you have any questions for them, or suggestions/requests for the seminar, please let them know. They are 100%-supporters of this 1st time, West-Coast GSDC of Canada endeavor - and they would be happy to hear from you. ****500+ Years of GSD Experience??**** I might get in significant trouble with this statement of fact (sorry ladies ) but between Joan, Kay and me, we bring more than 100 years of German Shepherd Dog experience to this Educational Extravaganza. Add in the other mentors confirmed and to-be-confirmed and CUMULATIVELY we're likely to offer you more than 5 centuries of expertise! Don't tell anyone...ah, wait a minute - we mean, tell everyone!!! Why not register today and join us in September? We're ready to welcome you to this exciting two day event. "Take Them Around" is a newly designed, unique seminar and Joan Fox is our distinguished speaker and judge for this event. Joan has judged Best of Breed the American Nationals, and also class Dogs. Joan has also been the lead presenter at the U.S. National Judge's Education Seminar. This event will be during the lunch break on Friday, September 9th. e.. "Mentors, Mentors and more Mentors" will be a busy two (2) FULL day experience during the Canadian National Judging. Our Clubs are so grateful to have Kay Reamensnyder lead the pack of German Shepherd Dog specialists. Kay has been invaluable to the GSDC of America as a long time Mentor and Educator at their National events for over 10 years. Her keen eye for a dog combined with an approachable and open style of communication makes her a great leader is an awesome group of mentors. f.. "Let them Stand Loose" will be available to you during the two (2) days of Judging. Jack Kilgour will share his expertise on evaluating German Shepherd Dog temperament in the ring, by talking about an efficient, fair and consistent approach to each dog in the ring. The vast majority of breeders and exhibitors want a temperament test done in both all breed and specialty rings - we believe our breed must "stand loose" while our dogs are approached by a judge. Jack will offer ongoing, small group seminars taking two or three of you at a time so you can discuss, observe and practice the exam. Find out More! a..
