The Silky Terrier Club of America has verified its opposition to PAWS with
letters Senate Agriculture Committee members indicating that the club
opposes
S1139. The National Beagle Club of America registered its PAWS opposition
with
letters to the chairmen of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees. This
raises the AKC parent club total NO PAWS Honor Roll to 39 clubs representing
65.9% of AKC's registrations and 365 clubs nationwide! Which parent club

There is no PAWS II, only the AKC's wish for one. If one existed, Rick
Santorum
would have published it after the August recess, as he announced he'd do
back in
July. November 8th's PAWS hearing was purely for show. See the attachments.
No
bill opponent was permitted to testify. Santorum said then another draft
would
be ready "shortly." "Shortly" became the week after Thanksgiving and has now
slid into January. Nothing in AKC's wish list for PAWS II, is confirmed by
or
attributed in any way to Santorum, HSUS or DDAL. It's funny how this was the
"perfect" bill five months ago, with no flaws. AKC fiercely attacked the
motives
and intelligence of anyone questioning the bill's impacts, until most people
understood S1139's implications.
PAWS still breaches the retail-wholesale regulatory distinction and contains
numerical values, which are subject to further change. The hunting,
security,
breeding dog purpose licensing provision is in current law, but mooted
because
of its wholesale only application. PAWS doesn't have to mention it
explicitly,
although it does. When PAWS eliminates the wholesale limitation, it will
kick in
and put such dog owners at grave risk of federal licensing. AKC knows this
and
has artfully and disingenuously side-stepped that impact in its press
releases.
HSUS and DDAL went out of their way to contradict AKC's suggestions for
non-profit registry inspections taking the place of USDA's for the thousands
of
new "dealers" created in PAWS. HSUS and DDAL have the upper hand and are
getting
what they've wanted for twenty years. That is why we have to keep the
pressure
up, convincing more clubs to oppose PAWS. Please spread the word to parent,
specialty, all-breed and training clubs. Join the NO PAWS Honor Roll at

If you're an officer of a club that might be opposed to PAWS, or says it
does,
but hasn't taken that last critical step, I urge you to join with others
that
are actively and effectively opposing PAWS. Unfortunately, some clubs seem
content with posting ambiguous homepage statements and not taking an
official
club position. That won't protect us from PAWS, or any other bad
legislation.

the PAWS opposition Honor Roll. We need every club on the NO PAWS Honor
Roll,

The NO PAWS Honor Roll is a major factor in the rejection of this awful
bill. We
need to be united and your club's opposition at this time would send the
strongest of signals that you see the dangers involved in this bill and the
"negotiation" with HSUS and DDAL. SAOVA and its partners will shortly
publish a
listing of NO PAWS all-breed clubs to guide show fanciers. States such as
New
Jersey, North Carolina and Florida are well represented. Other states have
few
to no all-breed clubs opposing PAWS.
