Yeah, i agree, Guzman/Moses et al should be out to pasture to make room for
young newbies like myself and Olivia and Alex to re-vitalize the sport. Might i
say, Kathleen, i've seen you run around the ring double handling and running
all those in front of you over, perhaps you should test out the grounds in Ohio
and see if you can hack it<G>, you can represent the old and creaky double
handlers, just kidding my fellow Canadian friend.

Or... this might be a novel idea -- put the old handlers with creaky knees,
bad backs out to pasture for a national and let all the newbies into the
ring for a change and watch the re-vitalization of the sport begin.

Jeff and Abbey are all under 35 the true test is to have over 45 yr old
handlers with creaky knees and bad backs run the surface and give it the
thumbs up. There are whole number of these "seasoned" handlers that should
be the true yardstick as opposed to these young kids that can run on cement
with no consequence<G>.

Just catching up, but yes myself, Nick & Abbey Hathaway all ran the ring
after the board meeting in Columbus a couple of years ago.?? No dust, very
clean and cushiony.?? Joan may have already said this, but this "material"
is a newer, high-tech synthetic material that many horse shows have started
using.?? I did not run dogs on it, but it seemed like it would work well.
I will also say that this site is one of the only sites where all or just
about everything is within a?very short?walk from the arena.? You can
literally walk out of the arena and within a 100 yards or so choose which
direction to go to see any or all of the performance events!??
The fairgrounds itself had some cleaning up to do while we were there, but I
am?certain that 2 years later and this new facility has accomplished that.?
Also - for those asking me about hotels.? Yes, I live in Ohio, but I do not
know which hotels will be host hotels yet.? <vbg>??? However, there are tons
of hotels just west of the show site - within 5 miles Springfield hotels, 10
miles Huber Heights has a ton of hotels, shopping, restaurants etc.??
OK, that is all I know.?

Good grief.... it's a feeding frenzy!
Calm down please.
Everyone that has been to the Springfield site agrees we do not need sod.
Jeff
Pyle and Nick ran dogs on it. Loved it. No slipping, no smell.
Bart Bartley loved it. Said the site is better than Perry.
I have been to 3 horse shows there even with carts.... it's? cushiony and no
dust. It is not dirt.
If when Bill Burggraff goes there in April he decides we do then we will put
down sod. Ohio has beautiful sod farms and I contacted them through the site
just in case.
The site is prepared to do this. Interesting, they want to put down netting
first so as not to contaminate the sand base used at so many of the new
horse
facilities. It is an expensive and clean product and the dirt from the sod
has
to be contained.
Questions: If you can do something better why would you not? If you could
save
the club at least $8,000 would you not? Some sites have been more than that
when
we have had to pay for removal.

I bet when Joan Fox reads this we will get an answer. She was the one who

It was awhile ago so you may have forgotten Lee, but at the Columbus board
meeting July 06 when the site was proposed and voted on Joan had said there
would be no sod. As recent as last year it was still slated as no need for
sod.
