We live on 30 acres in the Texas Hill Country, but we are totally  fenced - 
I made red vests for the dogs who run loose during hunting  season.  Better 
safe than sorry.
 
My dogs did hunt the neighbors guinnie  hens about three years  ago.   But 
we reached a compromise.  I found and plugged the 2  holes under our fence 
and he did not shoot the girls.
