Dr. Mathew Pletcher of the Scripps Institute in Florida , who is doing  the 
Research , seeking a DNA MARKER for Bloat/Torsion Gastric in the German 
Shepherd Breed....has contacted me  to  ask  for information  from  any  
Pure-Bred GS Breeder who has been in the Breed for at least 20 years, to 
respond , if they have a line of Shepherds that have   NEVER had Bloat/Torsion 
Gastric .

The IMPORTANCE of this is to find a CLEAR line to compare  with  Genetic 
information from the  Lines that ARE known to be AFFECTED with B/T. (This is a 
very simplistic explanation, but it is states the purpose..). 

 However, this must be  absolutely verifiable information. So the  Qualified 
Participants  willing to participate,  would submit their blood samples and a 
lengthy report on several generations of their particular Shepherds.. Their  ,  
First, Second and Third   Generation Relatives...Siblings and Progeny...It 
would have to be 100 % accurate.. That is where the great difficulty comes in , 
as the  Scientific  Research  would be based on the  indisputable reliability 
of these participants that NONE of their  lines have ever experienced B/T..

It would require someone who has kept a  very close and accurate  record  on 
all of  the German Shepherds they have owned and bred and sold...
I appreciate the fact that this  is an extraordinary request, that few are able 
to provide such information...BUT...on the off-chance, someone can, it would 
put this entire research a Giant Step Forward!!!!!!!!   

If you are able to provide such information and records, please contact me as 
soon as possible..
