Thanks for posting this, Giselda. We *always* keep our automatic windows on "child lock." Inconvenient to human passengers at times, but we never have to worry about our dogs being strangled. This is very scary, and it is the reason my dogs never travel in a car unless crated!!! Please feel free to crosspost as you wish, including Club newsletters. I will start by saying that Shamrock has been a complainer/screamer from literally the moment she was being born, thus her official name is Palarset's It'sACryingSham. She is almost 6 years old and was one of the sisters that I cried to the list about 5 yrs ago when the family's grandfather came home and left the yard gate open, resulting in River's death and Shamrock badly broken. Shamrock was in the back seat and complaining so, this being normal, Dawn ignored her for a bit. When she turned to tell her to knock it off, Shamrock's head was out the side window and the window had gone up and was literally strangling her. Sham had put her paw on the automatic "up" button and it had gone as far as it could, pushing up against her throat!!!! Of course, the more she panicked and kept pawing that button, the more it tried to continue up. Dawn slammed on the brakes, got the window down and had a big meltdown, needless to say. Drivers behind had seen what was happening so were well back and there were no rear - enders. She was immediately taken to the Vet's for an examination where all seemed fine but she did bruise internally and externally and had trouble swallowing and having her normal "discussions" for about a week. One VERY lucky gal and "Mom" who now has all the windows locked in a position where the window is just down a smidge. Sham was not normally a dog to stick her head out the window but did occasionally and almost lost her life because of it and her antics.
