The money was not re-allocated by the board. This year it was all= ocated
byPurina for the enhancement of the member experience at the= National show,
from what I am told. Purina did that, not the board. Or so = I am told by a
board member or two...

Although I don't disagree that Futurity Trophies money CAN be solicited
andsuccessfully collected, that is missing the point of all this
discussion. Also, the point is NOT whether Purina might in the future
discontinuethis generous contribution to our organization. The p= oint IS:
The money should not be re-allocated, especially without the consensus of
the majority of the Board. Reading all these posts, the board was= not
even aware of this happening.
It always amuses me to read, "write to your Board and the directors". =
Having done this, I can personally attest that only 3-4 ever bother t= o
respond, and it is always the same 3-4 individuals. So wh= at does that
tellme, the rest don't really care or want to be bothered.&nb= sp; I know
most have full time jobs, so do I, so I can truly appreciate hav= ing
anotherlife besides the club. BUT, when one runs and then i= s elected,
theyshould be aware of the fact that they have committed t= o that being
"part of the job".
If one or two people can change the entire course of action and allocation of
money designated for a specific purpose without the approval or vote from the
Board, then writing to the Board really is useless anyway. So l= et's
hope that a truthful explenation and disclosure of the new Purina cont= ract
will be provided and forthcoming.

Evan,I never had trouble soliciting trophies either. I= t happens way
beforethe show does, and if nothing else, use the money you = make selling
futurity catalog ads to pay for the tropies. It can be done an= d was for
years before Purina came around in 2006. And there's nothing to p= revent
local clubs from getting their own sponsors - a pet supply store or = local
company. I've seen that done too.
Purina mo= ney is a gift, and we should not think of it as something thatwe
are entit= led to.
Speaking of Purina, if people would have s= ent in their litter nominations
and used the weight circles we would be get= ting even more money from
Purina. But whoever was in charge of sending in t= he nominations to Purina
apparently didn't do that, so we missed out on tha= t money.
The Purina money is earmarked to enhance= the exhibitor experience, so any
way you slice it, we benefit.
