Since I was asked,I'll answer <G> Number of dogs in Specials --I did 189
Specials in Phillly one year. started at 8AM,took no lunch break,finished
at 2:30. Carmen was doing the photography of all the dogs at that time .We
did( entire National) all classes in 3 days in New Jersey,outside. Slow
judging at our Nationals or Futurities occur for two reasons. 1. Judge want's
to make a display,or impression on the spectators 2. Not used to judging a
large number in a businesslike and efficient manner. Show chair may be
being too lax in not moving things along ,and telling the judge that he'd
better watch his time. That's why the AKC sets the time at 25 dogs per hour.
Of course I'm presuming that we have a judge that is supposed to know
German Shepherd dogs. I have been fortunate to have judged our National three
times,and also have judged many other breed Nationals( 3 Siberian Husky) (
1 Gorden Setter) (1 Pembroke Corgi) (2 Afghan Hound) and judged Allbreed
shows since 1965,where you do 175 dogs per day,so experience does help.
