This is not really replying to you Carolyn but the whole topic in general:
We are not going to make this real difficult. For one thing we are trying to
make the Futurities more user friendly. Easier for exhibitors to get to and
the main thing is INCREASED PARTICIPATION. You don't add a nice feature then
make it so difficult that noone cares to do it.
We have decreased entries to where a win means no more than defeating a
couple animals in some regions,,,,we need to try something
new..............everything we try can be reversed or discontinued. Once we
try it and it doesn't work its either worked on or outta here. But we are
trying to see the whole Futurity system survive the tough times and decrease
in our sport.
We have a committee of volunteers and I am sure noone wants to spend their
every waking hour checking on every entry in the Futurities.
I will bring to the Board a very easy way of implementing this new idea and
if the Board likes it great, if not then we won't go forward. I am also
going to check with AKC to be sure everything is legit. I don't think AKC
will go for allowing double entries then having to send a letter of intent
or check in prior. As you know we follow their rules and you could literally
enter 15 shows across the country show up in the morning take a look at the
competition and decide not to show. If we accept an entry I don't thinkAKC
will allow us to make all kinds of stipulations on that entry accept that
once you exhibit in the futurity system you cannot exhibit in another one or
there will be stiff penalties.
But I am not going to make this difficult and take a Brain Surgeon as Sally
said (hahahahha) to implement this. When you start making things that
difficult people get a sour taste about it and you leave alot of room for
error which in turn leads to wins removed and hurt feelings............that
is the total opposite of my intentions.
Our ideas have to be voted on by the Board and I have had a very good
reception to this new idea. I have had numerous emails complementing this
whole new idea some who added constructive ideas. It seems alot of people
are ready to give this change a try.
We can't make changes that the Board won't approve. And yes there is a the
year rule. So it can't be an immediate change anyways.
Thanks for all your input everyone I will take everyones suggestions to
heart when making up the presentation to the Board in July.
