Interesting post Amy, but I think it's premature to assume that Pet People are
the reason
that so many GSDs are in pet shelters.....and I hope the guy does find a male
to breed to his female no matter how good or bad she is ( who decides that
anyway)....most responsible ( define responsible) breeders don't breed to just
any dog, and that's great...but when you prevent pet folks from breeding...the
day will come soon that folks will prevent you from breeding too.....homeless
pets are a big problem...wish I knew the answer to solving it...Ed Hill

Okay...so I have an add in the paper for my puppies right. A man calls me a
little while ago. I tell him about the puppies and ask him if he is looking for
a male or female and then I am going to proceed with my list of questions to
try and determine if he is a suitable home or not. He then says..I do not want
a puppy. I am looking for a male to breed my female with who is in heat right
now. He has no idea what day she is on, she is mostly tan and he has no testing
done. Are we having fun yet??? I then proceed to explain to him that I will
not let anyone breed to my male without the proper testing. I also let him know
about all the GSD in the shelters because of pet people who think that their
dogs should have puppies. I also tell him that there is no market for GSD
puppies right no. Then I politely turned him down. I am certain that he will
call every add in the Detroit News until he wants a male.
