Don't the same people do them all anyway but two different weekends and
expenses and time
for Clubs and members? It just gets done in ONE weekend.
Big enough entry.....you can give your Jr. handlers a little pocket money to
set up Sat. and break
down everything on Sunday.....<G>.......and if we exhaust the handlers they
might be more motivated
to give the Jrs. a couple of their dogs. < BIG G>
Also......I doubt the Specialty Clubs and All Breed Clubs have the same people
in Oregon?
Irregarless, my point is NOT to follow Oregon..........just to consider other
options instead of just
saying shows are failing. You can decide it won't work .....or give it some
thought and consider it.
It appears Oregon did.
As it is..
Instead of finishing one show weekend and then turn around and spend the next
few meetings
preparing for the next 'set' of shows.....you would be done in one weekend and
free up Club
meetings and another weekend of work and expenses and printing and mailing,
etc. and TWO
weekends of wearing out club members.
Add to that .....now Clubs have to meet AKC requirements in between just to now
qualify to put on
these shows. That takes up more work and weekends for members.
If it's all compacted to one weekend of four shows.......Clubs can overlap in
helping each other and
getting it all done once and for all. Less Printing, Less arm Bands, less
mailing, less setting up
less putting on Luncheons........??
Consider Exhibitors as "clients"......They are the reason we put on shows?
Give them four majors and they will come. <G> Give them double the long
drives and Motels they pay
for....handler flights and lodging they pay for.....double the hours of
driving.....and less choices for judges
as the payoff........I'm not sure what I'm missing here?
It makes a longer day yes.....for everyone...yes....but when it's
OVER......it's OVER.....and you don't have
another weekend like that waiting for you a few months later.............?

FOUR SHOWS & TWO SPECIALTIES sounds great to the exhibitor...........but
what about the people who are putting them on? The same people will have to
do all 4 shows.
Specialty clubs are folding because fewer new people are entering dog
shows and the current members are aging. Find me the box, please!
