WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON APRIL 27?

Did you know that the state's Canine Health Board is holding a
special hearing to determine if breeders may use HOG FLOORING in the primary
enclosures of breeder dogs kept in commercial breeding kennels?

They are and this is bad news because:

              1) Act 119 of 2008 PROHIBITS the use of wire strand flooring and
specifies the use of SOLID OR SLATTED flooring

              2) Hog flooring is manufactured for use with animals with cloven
hoofs - not the soft pads of a dog

              3) Hog flooring will hurt the feet and legs of dogs and continue
to perpetuate cruelty in the commercial breeding kennels.

Why Do Breeders Want to Use Hog Flooring?

It's simple: it's perforated and that means that gravity will
continue to perform the daily housekeeping that's MANDATED by the new state
law.

Because hog flooring has holes in it, urine and even diarrhea
will be able to drop down to the dog below and cages MAY be stacked two in
height.

              HOW YOU CAN HELP

Can you attend the Canine Health Board meeting on April 27? If
so, please go and plan on making a statement during the public comment period
that hog flooring is inhumane to dogs and is in direct contrast of the spirit
of the new puppy mill law.

              When: April 27 at 1PM

Where: Conference Room 309 of the Pennsylvania Department of
Agriculture Building, 2301 North Cameron Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

              IF YOU CAN'T ATTEND

The Pennsylvania primary election is just around the corner.
Hold YOUR state senator accountable! While individual senators do not,
necessarily, have any say in decisions made by the Canine Health Board, there's
no harm in letting your senator know that advocates for the mill dogs are still
passionate about this issue, that it was the Pennsylvania Senate who created
this board and that we will not stand to go backwards. If the Senate had passed
the legislation as drafted, solid flooring would be the law and not open to
modification. To find out who your senator is, visit: www.legis.state.pa.us/
and enter your zip code.

Thank you for continuing to support humane care for breeder dogs
trapped in Pennsylvania's puppy mills. Remember, you ARE the voice of the dogs
- don't let them down!
