My old time vet in NY said that ANY soap (dog shampoo, people shampoo,
detergent) would drown and kill fleas. But the water and soap would NOT
kill the flea eggs laid on the dogs' bodies. Makes sense to me.

Yes that works very well, (I used a white plate filled with water and a bit
of Dawn) and in addition I used HUMAN GRADE DE (diatomaceous earth) around
the house and it took care of them without any chemicals at all. Safe for
people and pets.
