so getting rid of majors will not make it any easier, because more than

Ed, as always, brings up an interesting idea. If we didn't require
majors, what would be the advantage, and what would be the down side? I think
it
deserves some thought. As we all know, in Canada they don't require
majors, and the quality of the Canadian German shepherd champions is just as
good
as here in the lower American states.

ADVANTAGE
Lots of minor points and with enough shows you can finish. Just takes 15
times to go Winners.
No more swearing at all the reserves, and red ribbons will no longer be
needed
Able to finish a dog with 15 judges even if there are only two or three
entries
Can go to a show, get the points and be home in time for breakfast
Smaller shows will be more popular, thereby no longer being smaller shows
Any judge, knowing a good dog or not, can finish your dog
You can "accidently" finish a dog without having to find a big show
The AKC won't have to adjust points, they won't matter.

DISADVANTAGE
No reason to look for top judges and big shows
No large crowds at the shows, and fewer people needed to finish a dog
You should be able to finish a poor dog, if you just keep showing and no
one else shows up
The top German judges won't be seen, as they will become irrelevent
There will be no way to know if a German shepherd judge, (specialty judge)
ever judged the dog
The standard of the GSDCA will become a document to line the bird cage
Free trade between Canada and The United States as to dog shows

I suspect those with better brains than me, (most everyone ) will have
other ideas. But, Ed, as usual has made me think.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
