Where exactly are you going that are you seeing dogs like this.....the 90's?
You should join us in the 21st century......you'll be much happier with the
dogs of today.
As it is...it might also be helpful to breed some litters and actually own some
show dogs before you pass judgement.......it's hell trying to breed, own and
show the perfect dog.....I'm still trying.
Incidently I went herding yesterday with my Samurai daughter....my herding
instructor who has Aussies said about her "boy that dog can trot" ........she
meant it as a compliment. I assume whe was admiring Lola's lovely sidegait.
She also said that she would be ready for started in a couple of months....but
I wouldn't be.....I don't think she meant that as a compliment....at least not
as far as I was concerned....LOL

I would like to know how this is funny at all. There are videos all over
youtube about how the GSD has been absolutely ruined by show breeding, and
rather than take into account what these people are saying and what they're
viewing, "we" laugh it off? Seriously?
There are dogs out there that can barely WALK let alone WORK, but as long as
the almighty side gait remains "efficient and effortless" what should it
matter that some are so overangulated they look like a blender going away,
and coming at you it's "Heil, Hitler!" (and yes, be offended all you like,
but you know they're out there. We've all seen them).
These people may not know "beauty in motion" in reference to the dog at the
trot, but they DO recognize what a functional dog is and is not, and we
should not be so blinded by side gait and charisma and ring presence. Ask
yourself really and truly how many of our dogs, German and American
showlines, could go back to fulltime herding full flocks of sheep if it
became necessary? How many could pass the HGH? How many could pass the BH
or the SchH I, or obtain a MACH or OTCH?
That's ok though...let's laugh. Let's laugh at the ignorant people that
"don't know what they're talking about." Surely they know nothing.
