[ SHOWGSD-L ] Fact or Hearsay?

It happens often on the list, but a lot lately, that someone makes a comment
regarding an incident where a friend of a friends daughter told her
boyfriend that she heard from a very reliable source about the guy who had a
baby!!!
Let's say that this really happened, how could you possibly verify that this
is true? So, as a person who prefers to deal with facts I would just drop
the whole thing and go on with my life. Not here on the list. One would have
to wonder why this guy chose to have this baby in the first place and the
nerve of him to go public with this.
My point is: If I have not personally seen that this is factual I should not
even comment on it, it would save me a lot of heachache later.
Another problem:
A person is suspended. It is pointed out that the Board (no names) has
decided to suspend him/her. What did he/she do to cause this suspension?
Who, besides the original accuser, chose to be part of this?
If this is reported on the list I would like to have facts and names,
otherwise don't bother to go public with it. This is just like having a
steak dangling in front of you and when you want to take a bite, it is
pulled away.
If one wants to go public with such accusations we would also like to hear
from the other party. There are always two sides to a story. Then, at least,
you yourself can make the decision of you want to be part of it or not.
