Just went to the AKC site to look up the"new" PAL listing. It is the old ILP program. PAL stands for Purebred Alternative Listing. It is for unregistered dogs that belong to one of the AKC recognized breeds. You must send photos. There is also space on the application for a representative from the parent club of the breed to verify the dogs breed. This is not the program for mixed breeds. The mixed breed program is called AKC Canine Partners. They can not show at performance events held with a specialty or all breed conformation shows. They can only show at stand alone events and only if the club putting on the show allows them entry. I can see a PAL/ILP dog not getting the obedience victor victress award but they are not 'mutts'. Very often owners of these rescue dogs will buy a dog from an active show breeder when they want a new dog. (which is what I ment at the end of my last post. I see very few well bred dogs in rescue) Beth Andrews ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2012.
