Get Fly Predators -- they WORK! The first year we got them, our fly numbers
were much lower. Had my neighbor (with 6 horses) get them too. That next
year, the flies were even lower, and they've been lower every year since.
Additionally, for dogs I'm showing, I use the fly gel but you have to put
that on every day (when the flies are really bad), but for the ones that
aren't being shown, the flies off paste (pink or white) does a great job and
you can do that every 3-4 days.
Used to be before the fly predators I'd be out there at the end of June
dealing with dogs and ears, and the bombardier fly brigade flying in
formation in the house, unless they landed on the fly tapes. Now, with the
fly predators, the numbers of flies we have is so much less that I don't
have to start putting the paste/gel on until somewhere around mid August,
and we don't have those ugly fly tapes around anymore either, the flies are
just not around.
