Hello Everyone,
I'm so happy to share the following Seminar announcement with all of you on
this list. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend!
Our primary target audience is All-Breed Judges in Canada and Select U.S.
States on the west coast. They are continually asking for education on our
incomparable breed!!! Are you planning on attending our Shows? If you'd like to
book a seat for our seminar, please think about doing so soon. If you'd like to
offer your expertise as a mentor, we're asking for at least an hour or two of
your time one or both days.
Research we've done with other breed's Nationals in Canada tells us the seminar
attendees have offered mixed reviews on ringside mentoring. Those sitting close
to or next to a mentor found it invaluable - others unable to quite share in
the discussions found it disappointing. If you can help by volunteering a bit
of time, we will invite as many of YOU as possible through the priority seating
area - to offer our seminar attendees the ultimate mentoring experience.
Please spread the word - you have our Clubs' permission to cross-post to all
lists....and please email me privately if you are coming to our shows and would
like to help.
The email below is one we're distributed throughout North America. Please note
the website URL for our this Seminar is showing in the "Find out More" section.
Our Advanced Brochure also on our BC GSDC homepage is now updated with all the
details...

The British Columbia GSDC are proud hosts of this years GSDC of Canada
National!!!! Please join us for what promised to be an unforgettable Dog Show
and Seminar weekend!

Dear Friend of the German Shepherd Dog,

The GSDC of Canada National Specialty Show is in Western Canada for the first
time in 10 years! The British Columbia GSDC is the proud host club, and the
show is being held near Vancouver, in Cloverdale, BC. The Dates are Friday,
September 9th and Saturday September 10th, 2011. The Seminars listed below are
being held over these two dates.

Please note: We'd love for you to come a day early to attend our Regional
Specialty Show put on by the BC GSDC on Thursday, September 8th, 2011. Our hard
working Club members are making sure there's first-class, west coast
hospitality, including great vendors, food and and we're even close to securing
a license for British Columbia Wine and Beer.

All three days will be held indoors, using most of the Agriplex floor space for
a LARGE ring with footing great for our breed!

On behalf of Education Committees of both clubs, I invite you to attend a
UNIQUE and comprehensive learning opportunity on our Noble Breed! Here's what
we have planned for YOU!

1) "Take Them Around" - An in-the-ring, Judging Seminar including thorough,
"real-time" critiques with Breeder-Judge Helen Franklin (Washington State).

2) "Mentors, Mentors and more Mentors" - An all-star cast of breeder-judges,
breeders and specialty handlers with Lead-Mentor and Breeder-Judge Kay
Reamensnyder (Washington State).

"Let Them Stand Loose" - Evaluating German Shepherd Dog Temperament with local
Breeder-Judge and retired handler Jack Kilgour (Vancouver, BC).

Three (3) Certificates will be signed and Issued!

Program Highlights

a.. You are our distinguished guests, and we are offering you the best seating
in the house! A sectioned-off, ringside area has been reserved to ensure your
experience is up close and personal. Class dogs and Best of Breed competition
is being judged by breeder-judge Fred Migliore, of Eko-Lan Kennels (Michigan).
Class females will be judged by breeder-judge Charlotte LaRosa (Ohio). Our
Regional specialty on the day before the seminars will be judged by Karen Hynek
(Missouri). All three judges bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our
"Big Ring" - which will be 140 feet long by approximately 70 feet wide!
b.. We have worked hard to keep these seminars affordably priced. The cost for
the two (2) days - September 9th and 10th is only $75.00 (Canadian Funds). For
your convenience, you have two options for registration and payment. You can
download a registration form from our BCGSDC website and send it in with a
cheque or you can register and pay INSTANTLY by filling in an online form and
paying using our secure Pay Pal account. There is room in the building for ALL
OF YOU, but we regret our seminar availability and priority seating will be
limited. Please consider booking soon to avoid missing this exciting
opportunity to share in our celebration of the German Shepherd Dog.
c.. Some of our long list of mentors are coming in just for you, while others
will come and go through your priority seating area as their schedule permits.
This will ensure you speak with as many different German Shepherd Dog
specialists as possible. Mentoring is all about great discussions and sharing
experiences, isn't it?
d.. "Take Them Around" is a newly designed, unique seminar and Helen Franklin
is our distinguished speaker and judge for this event. Helen has judged Best of
Breed at both Canadian and American Nationals, and also class bitches twice
(US) and class dogs (Canada). This event will be during the lunch break on
Friday, September 9th.
e.. "Mentors, Mentors and more Mentors" will be a busy two (2) FULL day
experience during the Canadian National Judging. Our Clubs are so grateful to
have Kay Reamensnyder lead the pack of German Shepherd Dog specialists. Kay has
been invaluable to the GSDC of America as a long time Mentor and Educator at
their National events for over 10 years. Her keen eye for a dog combined with
an approachable and open style of communication makes her a great leader is an
awesome group of mentors.
f.. "Let them Stand Loose" will be available to you during the two (2) days of
Judging. Jack Kilgour will share his expertise on evaluating German Shepherd
Dog temperament in the ring, by talking about an efficient, fair and consistent
approach to each dog in the ring. The vast majority of breeders and exhibitors
want a temperament test done in both all breed and specialty rings - we believe
our breed must "stand loose" while our dogs are approached by a judge. Jack
will offer ongoing, small group seminars taking two or three of you at a time
so you can discuss, observe and practice the exam.
