I'm familiar with the no "no" argument. I subscribe to the one that says only
use it when there is something you want to stop now and never do again. If my
brother needs to stop him, he's not going to go through a list of commands
trying to figure out which one is appropriate for the situation.
These are more commands than I usually have to use for my house dog. At least
"word"commands. Growling and grunts are more effective here, not so much words.
I pat the table if I want them on it. I swing my and forward if I want them
off. I clap my hands if I want them to come. Of course the show dog requires
more commands, and the obedience dog even more. Still, I try to limit to four
basic commands, so that someone else can handle the dog besides me.

No is the most important.

<REPLY> We never use NO or negatives in training. You KNOW what I mean. The
word is
used too much. I use a sound an EH instead of NO. Works on all dogs whether
trained or not
<VBG>

Leave it works fine

Here are some commands I insist on:

Come or Here
WITH ME (pretty much heel)
Easy (slow up you are walking faster than I can)
Fast (you may walk ahead of me and move faster than me)
Wait (I enter all doors and exit all doors before the dog sothey wait until I
say Released or Ok or
whatever I want)
Kennel up - they either go to their crates or their kennel runs, even when
playing with each other
HURRY UP - the pee on command
DUCE - the poo on command
Watch Me
Leave it
Stand - they learn that one eaerly as I teach them to stack on command
Teeth - they will actually show their teeth to the judge
OUT - drop whahtever you have in your mouth into my HANDS immediately (no, the
cat is
definitly NO a plus toy, out)
HUP - means put your paws up and jump into the truck, or onto the grooming table
OFF - No jumping, not sitting in Grandma's lap
