Hi All In this day and age with all the agility and flyball clubs holding events every weekend in the lower mainland most of the business people are inundated with requests for prizes that they just have a few select to give to and that's it. We are being sponsored by Royal Canin this year by way of bags of dog food for the winners, and K9 Connections has donated a few prizes for this year. What someone suggested on a way to save some money was to cut back on the size of the ribbons, and this is one thing we will be looking at and deciding at the next meeting. In the past our prizes have always been nice and this year will be no different. In spite of a few people who like to put a "damper" on things, the show will go on with or without your support. But when I get my dogs photo taken with the rosette I do return all ribbons to the show secretary they are the expensive for the clubs to buy. We used to go around town and ask for prizes to be donated to the local dog show every year, but it seems the new members are not doing this anymore? We used to get some really neat stuff donated and it was all for free. and in return we would print the names of the people or business in our catalogue with a big thank you to all of them. Just a idea to some clubs. We used to have a really nice table full of prizes, not the last 5 or 6 years though. We have cut back our prizes to Breed, Opposite, BOW and Puppy, and we try to offer prizes that are practical and useful. For a few years we offered the show photo with a nice frame, that went over really well and wasn't all that expensive. We've done stainless buckets and items that people can appreciate. Last year we had some great tote bags, fleece wraps with our logo and this year we are looking at stuff that can be used at shows and for travel. We offer nice rosettes which are made locally and expense friendly, and use flat ribbons for placements in the classes, and exhibitors always have the option of handing it all back to the club if they don't want it. I think clubs can cut back on stuff they offer, but I know our club still wants to offer something nice for those who come, especially for newer people who still appreciate a memento.
