First I will just say that I think that if you did as the Tucson club and
others have mentioned, you probably would get people to enter on time. For
years club have enabled people to get entries in late. We all know what
happens when you enable something....it ends up encouraging the behavior. So
clubs should publicize that entries must be received on time ..."or else!"
However, I need to respond to the "handler shenanigans" statement. Like it or
not, handlers have a lot to do with whether you will get a major entry at your
specialties or not. Handler work very very hard, not only in the ring, but at
home training, conditioning, caring for clients animals....PLUS planning shows,
entering, hotels, organizing, invoicing, playing phone tag back and forth with
clients all over trying to line of which dogs are going or should go where. I
really don't think that most of you understand how many hours are put in by
handlers doing all of the above things. You see us show up at shows, run
around the ring and think we made an easy buck. Not so. We drive all over,
sometime 8, 10, 12 hour drives to try to win for our clients. Some of us do
all this on top of full time jobs. Right now I am doing it while working a
full time 8-5 job, plus a part time seasonal Xmas job!
So, while I completely feel for clubs and show secretaries that have to deal
with last minute entries and the work they do for their clubs, which is a lot I
know.....and I agree that everyone should attempt to ease these situations by
getting entries in sooner....I just don't think that handler shenanigans is
necessary considering all of the above. It's not you against us. We are all
part of this sport/lifestyle/hobby and we should keep on encouraging, not
discouraging. (Right Lew? LOL)

So we show secretaries need to unite, not accept late entries, we may get
hit once or twice, but once the word gets out that late entries will not be
accepted, we will get them on time?
So handlers, will that prompt you to get them in by closing, or will you
only support shows that will put up with your shenanigans?
