I will take what you said a step further Lee. I think many handlers &
exhibitors, say to themselves - This dog is a really nice dog and will win
in the show ring, but most of the other dogs are a brilliant black & gold or
red...So they feel that in order to be competitive they need to adjust or
enhance to keep up.

So, maybe this really isnt about dying and enhancing as much as, educating
judges, public and changing a perceived notion of what is correct versus
what is pretty.

You are partially right, Mike. It boils right down to the fact that people
cannot wait for a breeding that would enrich the desired pigment. They have
a dog they want to show and the loss of pigment does not deter them because
if it's a problem then the enhancement will do the trick. It is the here and
now that counts like "I cannot throw away this dog because of the color".
There would be no need to educate the judges if patience and time were used.
The standard states "rich colors", so lets have rich colors with the next
breeding and there will not be any repercussions while doing the wrong
thing.
