It takes years to even be able to qualify to take the test, and you have to have bred some litters and champions. Often a judge is unknown as to what they will do in the ring, and then will draw a better entry when they first get an assignment. After a couple of shows, when everyone knows what they do, they either will get few assignments, or be in great demand. For example, I have no assignments coming up. I do notice that Tedi is judging next week in Phoenix, has a Futurity in the North West and I just noticed an assignment next year on the East coast. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
