The only hematoma we had was on our old dog. We did the surgery, my vet uses
xray film attached with the sutures to the ear...he used to sew buttons on
years ago when I worked for them...anyway after the film and sutures were
removed his ear was fine...it was erect. The buttons and or the xray film is
used
to help keep the ear draining so fluid does not build up again...they open the
hematoma but they dont suture it shut...they use the buttons or the film over
the spots that they leave open to drain, if I'm remembering correctly.
