I cringe when I hear the word "hematoma" in conjunction with our beautiful
Shepherds' ears! My 12-yer old bitch had a hematoma when she was around
seven. A puppy bit her ear. She, too had surgery and the ear never came
back up. I was heartsick because she had the most beautiful ears. Then,
last fall, the same bitch got another hematoma. This time, I think it was
caused by her scratching her ear. More surgery and another flopped ear.
Now she looks like a hound. I wish I could give you a better report, but
from all I've experienced, I would say the chances are not good for the ear
to ever return to normal. Good luck!

We had surgery done three weeks ago on Spirit for an ear hematoma. Got the
sutures out this morning and her ear is still flopped over.
Does anyone have any experience with ear hematomas? Any chance that her
ear
will go back up? Is there anything that we can do to help it go up?
