[ SHOWGSD-L ] Duel Sires (new topic)

I did a spur of the moment Duel Sire breeding - my repo vet was not happy
with the "amount" of semen he had to work with from a frozen package. (Note
he had not checked the quality yet-it was great) Since I had my dog there
for another reason I told him he could use him also. The result was NINE
puppies and YES, I am sure there are some puppies from each of the
contributing sires. But I did not inform in advance the owner of the sire who
sent
the frozen and they were MOST upset with me. Mea Culpa! Plan ahead and
be in agreement.
HOWEVER-It is expensive. I think the fee to register a duel sire litter
is about $200. You must submit a DNA sample for EACH SIRE and THE MOTHER.
and then you must submit a DNA sample for each puppy.
and it takes several weeks. I chose to microchip each puppy and so waited
until each puppy was almost 8 weeks old (for easy in putting in the chips)
Then I discovered I only had 3 chips. So I had to order more.
Of course in the middle of all of this I had my heart attack and
consequently my puppies are almost three months old and I still have 6 to chip
and
then get the DNA's sent in. Good thing I intended to keep all of them for
awhile.

I was just thinking about breeders breeding to dual sires. I think the
breeders should inform the stud dog owners of their intentions of doing a dual
breeding and both the breeders and the stud dog owners should both be in
agreement with this type of breeding and not be blind sided after the fact.
What do you guys think?
