My 12 week old puppy is down in her pasterns. It is not bad, but Todd &
I would like some suggestion on what has worked for others. Here is
what we are currently doingâ?¦
She is being started on Coral Calcium at the recommendation of her
breeder (Todd)
I have mixed her food, ½ Pro-plan puppy & ½ Pro-plan adult (to decrease
the protein and slow down growing somewhat),
And, We are starting to exercise her in circles (like they do to horses)
to strengthen her pasterns.

Iâ??m sure there are other things that could help, so suggestions would be
great!

Respectfully, I think you are doing everything wrong. With calcium
supplementation, you could be upsetting the very delicate calcium/phosphorous
balance
that good canine growth depends on. All good dog foods have the correct c/p
balances, without supplementation. Additionally, forced exercise can
completely stretch and stress the weakened pastern ligamentation further.
Leave the
dog alone regarding diet and exercise. Self exercise is best. (We have had the
experience of a seven month pup coming up on his pasterns, and being taken
out for runs by a well meaning teenager. The pasterns broke down completely
and permanently) . Your food is probably just fine, and at 7 months old the
pasterns will start to come up, (if they are going to, which they most likely
will). I assume you are asking the list because you want to learn. You will
get
20 different opinions. Syd
