It would certainly be ideal if an experienced breeder were available, but this
is not always the case! Darlene Cliff recommended a book to me when I whelped
my first litter, and it helped me tremendously! I still reread it before each
litter. It is Muriel Lee's book The Whelping and Rearing of Puppies:
A Complete and Practical Guide. You can get it from Amazon.com.

I had no book when I first started whelping litters..We thank heavens had
breeders to consult and even come over if needed..No book will help like
actually whelping the litter..Experienced breeders helping are the key..Barbara
