Tish,
I had a reality check lst month when I had to take my old girl to the vet to
let her go. Fortunately, my neighbor's 18 year old son was home to help me
get her in the car. I would never have been able to lift her by myself.
She went down the previous day and I couldn't get her up. As we were
lifting her into the car, I said to him this is why older people shouldn't
have big dogs. Bless his heart, his response was that older people should
have big dogs. I've got the corgi now who can't jump into the car, but at
least I can lift his 30 plus pound derriere without any help. I would love
to have another GSD, but really need to give it long and careful
consideration.
