It is about two hours. I hated the drive back and the Atlanta airport was a
mess to get in and out of. I remember one year when I saw Cappy and Gloria
at the curb with eight dog crates.
I guess this year we fly into Kansas City and drive to Topeka. I have no
idea how far that is. Most of the nationals have included a drive and a
rental car or van. Now you can rent a mini-van with seats that go into the
floor. I remember leaving the rear seat at the airport, but they don't allow
that any more.
I always figure a drive for the national. Be it two hours, or only an hour
and a half.
The key is being able to fly there with a dog. I had decided to never
bring a dog to a national again. But, here we are bringing a dog.
I don't care about the footing, so long as every other dog has to run on
the same thing. I don't care about the location so long as my dog can fly in
without changing planes. I don't care who won the elections, or who is
on the board. I don't care about the prizes, the temperature, the weather,
the venue, or the judges, (that may be a shock).
What I care about is my friends, the strangers I will meet, the dogs I
will see, and the memories I will come home with.
As a bonus, I won't have to do law stuff for a week.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
