Kathy - unfortunately, the WS folks aren't concerned with breeding to colored
stock. They see nothing wrong with breeding white to white and making the gene
pool smaller. The main WS lines are all related, some very closely. They will
not see this as a loss of possible genes because they only have their eye on
the prize ... breed separation. They have had 16 years to make plans for the
day they separate but very few WS breeders have added any new, unrelated blood
to their breeding programs.
The people, like me, who are against breed separation want whites who look and
move like GSDs. Colored lines are utilized. We recognize the need to keep the
gene pool healthy, and how new blood is needed.
Yesterday was a sad day for all whites, whether WS or GSD.
