For a lot of years, we rarely had a major in Utah, except for the specialties that often went to dogs from outside that were brought in with handlers. There were several quality animals here that minored out. The only way to pick up a major win was to take the group when another breed had a major. I remember at least a couple of dogs with well over 20 points and lacking that last major. Of course, a lot of the problem then was that we were 'grouped' with the west coast states in the AKC point schedules. We didn't have the big kennels to match the entrys that were in the other states!
