Dick did embrace the newbie's and always made you feel as you have been
around forever. Even if you
had not. I met them for the first time at one of our local specialties. Two
years later Logan started
showing in Jr.'s, Dick was always there to support him ringside even if they
had something to get ready
to go in the ring. He used to always tell me that young man is going to be
the next upcoming handler.
Of course this will be years later.
I remember the first time I went to Claremont, nothing to show, just for
fun. However Logan was showing, Dick was so excited because we made the
trip. He told me that is devotion. I was able to sit and talk with
him for awhile and there was so much that you could learn from this
wonderful man. I am so grateful for
the time that I did get to spend with him. He has not left us, as he will be
watching all of us from above. Rest in peace our special friend.

I have only known Dick for about 10 years. I have seen him at his best
and his worst, healthwise. We didn't talk dogs much, he left that to Jean
:-)Â But, he was always friendly and ALWAYS remembered my name and made it
a point to say hello to me. This is what I will take away from knowing
Dick. He embraced newbies and made you feel good about being a part of
the Breed. I first met Dick when I showed my rescue dog in their
obedience trial. He didn't put down my funny looking dog, he asked how I
got him and told me what a neat dog he was. I will miss Dick for the
gentleman he was. Â

o work for the betterment of the breed. Dick judged the national specialty

valuator. The loss of Dick and Bob Penny leaves a big hole in the
temperament
testing program.
e fought a valiant fight against the disease and greatly outlived the
redictions of the medical profession. He did not go gently into that sweet
ight.
e was a true shepherd man and will be greatly missed by us all.
